Cursed

Noah and I are extremely lucky in many aspects of our life--cars, most certainly NOT being one of them. In fact, I would go so far as to say we are cursed in the car arena. Since Noah and I have been married (9 years this November) we will have owned 9 cars and one scooter. Don't believe me? Here's the list: '96 Pontiac sunfire (electric and major engine problems), '92 Mitsubishi Mirage (transmission went out), '96 Nissan Altima (cam shaft blew a hole through the valve cover), '74 Toyota Land cruiser FJ-40 (short in the electrical system), '88 Ford Escort Wagon (died), '91 Mitsubishi 3000 GT (spun a bearing, Noah rebuilt the engine, put 50 miles on the it and then a tree crushed it, God apparently said "no"), Yamaha Vino (not winter friendly), '05 Chevy Malibu (lost coil pack one week after the warenty expired, sold it to buy family car), '00 Ford Ranger (still works, knock on wood), and then of course there is the '96 Lexus LX-450 that blew the head gasket and bent a rod in the middle of Wyoming last year, just a month after we purchased it (read about it here). Noah rebuilt the engine and [to save money] put in an off brand head gasket. And now, we get to replace it again because it just blew last Friday during our first date since we moved out here. This time, we're forking out the extra money and buying the Toyota brand in the hopes that it lasts longer than one year. The silver lining of this is that I get a nice view of Noah from the screen door:

  1. You did marry the perfect guy to handle all of these issues though.

  2. At least you're happy with the silver lining...sorry about the troubles. It is a good thing Noah can fix anything.

  3. You see, the problem is, that none of those cars have been Hondas. Our '98 Civic is still rockin' in the free world.

  4. I know what you mean, Gabe and I have recently discovered that if you start saying you have a pretty good car, you'd better knock on wood! :(
