STARSHIP!

Don't be jealous or anything, but guess who we saw live on Saturday. . .
Remember them? You know, "We Built This City on Rock and Roll" to mention only one of their stellar hits.
You must be thinking we 're rich or something to be able to afford taking all of our family to that kind of a concert right?

Well out here in the mid west, they believe it's every man and woman's God given right to enjoy certain things for free. Lucky for us, Starship is one of them.
So we splurged and bought the kids a hot dog (just one--to share between the three of them).
Don't worry, it was a big hot dog.
And then we got really crazy and forked out the cash to buy the kids neon light sticks (a.k.a. light sabers) so no one would think we were poor or anything.
Starship still rocks!

Yeah. So what did you do over the weekend?

  1. Dude - where is Grace Slick? There is no Starship without her!

  3. Yeah, but were you with Starship Zach?

And I'm pretty sure that is Grace Slick in the picture (maybe she's had a little work done?) anyway, it sounded like her at the concert and she was AWESOME! That woman can sing scream with the best of 'em.

  4. We went to an international storytelling festival in Orem, Utah. Then we ice skated on Utah Lake (one night only--special event with underwater experiment from the BYU chemistry department, who used dry ice to create a solid surface). Then we went fairy hunting in Daren's back yard. Found three, which we used the "catch and release" method on. Then we watched meteors and one UFO, which landed somewhere on Mount Timpanogos and started a fire, which we helped put out by joining firefighters in helicopters and B-52s. Then we performed the unabridged version of _Les Mis_ in our back yard--by memory. I sang "On my Own" and got applause from four blocks away. Bruce sang "Do You Hear the People Sing?" and we were all astounded that a chorus joined us from as far away as we could hear--like from the Quail Valley area of Provo. Rob sang "Who am I? I'm Jean Valjean!" and was arrested. Michael didn't want to participate, so we had him kill mosquitos. He got 57.
Then our entire ward performed "Thriller."
    Beat that.

  6. How fabulous! Kansas City is the same way about free stuff. We have yet to spend money on any type of entertainment here (excluding RedBox, of course). I'm sure the light sabers were worth every penny, of course ;)
